Unfortunately my wonderful Grandad passed away on Sunday. I’ve felt pretty lost this last couple of days but I’m starting to get back into doing the usual.
I, of course, had to draw something as a memorial because I’m an artist and that’s how I deal with things. Anyway, my Grandad loved cricket, to me, cricket is always associated with him so I drew this little piece to keep that idea with me at all times.
BB-8, watercolour, acrylic ink and ink pen on paper
Played around with ink, water spray bottle and a sponge to create various textures in this piece. I wanted the background to contrast the clean and technical look to BB-8.
My submission for this week’s Illustration Friday, Shelter. A sketchy, inky drawing on a Moleskine page.
The base layer on the page is tissue paper that was wrapped around my soap from Lush. The drawing itself is pigment ink pen, watercolour and acrylic ink.
In the Hollow Of Your Hand
Watercolour, acrylic ink and text on paper, 14.6 x 19cm.
This is a little fun piece that was inspired by Amarante’s new single In The Hollow Of Your Hand. I decided to include a couple of lyrics from the song in the artwork.
You can listen to the single here on Soundcloud.

Illustration Friday- Smart
Decided to create a couple of tribute paintings this weekend. Terribly sad that this week has both David Bowie and Alan Rickman have passed away, both greats that were inspirational for many art forms.
As you can see I chose to paint Bowie’s Aladdin Sane/Ziggy Stardust and Alan Rickman as Alexander Dane/ Dr. Lazarus (from Galaxy Quest- one of my favourites)
Both pieces are watercolour, acrylic ink and ink pen on paper.
1] Sightseeing, mixed media postcard, 6 x 4 inches
2] Together, mixed media postcard, 6 x 4 inches
Two postcards I sent off to Nottingham for Surface Gallery’s International Postcard Show. Both postcards have a base of paper ephemera- a mixture of train tickets and car park ticket stubs with acrylic ink, watercolour and ink pens. Together has found vintage anatomy images- the heart in the middle has also been cut apart and hand stitched together with black thread.
Will be nice to start off this year with an exhibition with artists from around the world.
