New Artwork: High Religion

high religion final

High Religion, acrylic ink, pigment ink pen on handmade paper, 20 x 20 cm

Piece for the fourth song on the album Crash Site. The pieces in this series were commissioned for a music album by C.J Kane.

The second image shows the image with text as it will be shown.

Ideas were not necessarily suggested for this piece, however C.J did reference some of my other works in regards to aesthetic style. I wanted to have visual references to both an old church building and a cloaked figure- I used silhouettes to keep the style common among all the album pieces.

After some experimentation with different text types and fonts, I decided to use text from a vintage Bible page. I extracted the text from the page in Photoshop and created a stamp with acetate, adding the text to the left of the piece over spattered red ink

Both the church and and cloaked figure were inked with a Micron ink pen-  I kept the shapes simple and pretty much texture-less so the texture of the ink beneath could be seen more easily.
