My favourite of the unselected images for a recent project I completed. These glitch images were created for the album Lonewolf, an upcoming music project for JXN Kane and No Ctrl Records.

Will show the actual album art when everything is released.

Crash Site Artworks

These are all the art pieces I created for the album Crash Site by CJ Kane. Each image in this post has a caption showing the title of the song the artwork is for.

I have created more detailed blog posts for the majority of the pieces, you can see these posts here.

The album is free to download from cj-kane.com and can also be listened to on Soundcloud.

Please check it out and support independent musicians/ artists.

New Artwork: High Religion

highreligion_final_1

high religion final

High Religion, acrylic ink, pigment ink pen on handmade paper, 20 x 20 cm

Piece for the fourth song on the album Crash Site. The pieces in this series were commissioned for a music album by C.J Kane.

The second image shows the image with text as it will be shown.

Ideas were not necessarily suggested for this piece, however C.J did reference some of my other works in regards to aesthetic style. I wanted to have visual references to both an old church building and a cloaked figure- I used silhouettes to keep the style common among all the album pieces.

After some experimentation with different text types and fonts, I decided to use text from a vintage Bible page. I extracted the text from the page in Photoshop and created a stamp with acetate, adding the text to the left of the piece over spattered red ink

Both the church and and cloaked figure were inked with a Micron ink pen-  I kept the shapes simple and pretty much texture-less so the texture of the ink beneath could be seen more easily.

New Artwork: All I Hear

all_i_hear_final
all I hear final

All I Hear, acrylic ink, pigment ink pen, acrylic paint on canvas board,  25 x 25 cm

Some elements of this image were further arranged in Photoshop.

Piece for the third song on the album Crash Site. The pieces in this series were commissioned for a music album by C.J Kane.

The second image shows the image with text as it will be shown.

The main visual ideas suggested (by C.J) for this piece were ‘empty night street with dim lit street lights – white/black/grey (blue/green in the lights).’

After some experimentation, initial sketches and colour tests I decided to (like I had done with my second piece La Da Da) imply the darkness of the image without overloading the image with blacks and dark colours. I wanted this piece to have an atmosphere of a small empty town at night, wet with rain that is also reflecting the green and blue lights. I stuck with simple silhouettes, leaving the texture to be picked up with the white and coloured ink splatter.

I also decided to add a vague , almost dispersing figure silhouette to the right of the image. The idea was to convey a solitary figure walking through lonely streets at night, with many conflicting thoughts and ideas overwhelming their mind.

New Artwork: La Da Da

ladada_final_1

la da da final

La Da Da, acrylic ink, pigment ink pen, acrylic paint on canvas board,  25 x 25 cm

Piece for the second song on the album Crash Site. The pieces in this series were commissioned for a music album by C.J Kane.

The second image shows the image with text as it will be shown.

The main visual ideas suggested for this piece were ‘Pine trees (forest) under night sky – white/grey/black/blue/green.’

After some experimentation with different colour combinations I decided to keep the background white- partially to compliment the other pieces made for the album and partially to allow textures to be seen. I felt that it was better for the overall look of the artwork to suggest the idea of a cold evening/night with textures and dark hues rather than flooding the image with black.

I also decided to add the plane silhouette to both complete the gap between the tree tops and reference the album title itself.
