New Artworks

royal hospital artwork

graingers lane atwork

1: Royal Hospital, acrylic ink, ink pen, image transfer on paper, 40 x 30 cm

2: Grainger’s Lane, acrylic ink, ink pen, image transfer on paper, 40 x 30 cm

Each artwork has layers of image transferred vintage diagrams, maps and text relating to each building/area.

Both buildings have been empty for quite a few years. The Royal Hospital is currently being taken down, there are plans to use the land for new housing. The building on Grainger’s Lane was once a pub but now sits condemned on the street corner.

These pieces are in The Art Yard’s current exhibition, mentioned in my previous post.

Exhibition- The Art Yard

A few photos from Monday night’s private view of the Open Media Exhibition at the Art Yard, Cradley Heath. Two of my artworks are in this show, it’s on until the end of September. It’s great seeing how the gallery had been done up, now theres more space for artwork and art activities.

I have two pieces in this show that’s on until the end of September. The gallery is on Reddal Hill Road in Cradley, pop in and take a look around the exhibition.

A couple of photos from the Private View of the Metropolis exhibition at the RBSA Birmingham. I have two pieces in this show that’s on until the end of September. Should have taken more photos really but I was busy wondering around looking at wonderful art on display.

It was great seeing my pieces alongside high quality artworks. If you’re in the area (Birmingham Jewellery Quarter) please drop into the gallery and take a look.

My favourite of the unselected images for a recent project I completed. These glitch images were created for the album Lonewolf, an upcoming music project for JXN Kane and No Ctrl Records.

Will show the actual album art when everything is released.

New Artwork- The Watery Part of the World

the watery part of the world artwork

A little digital collage to get me back into posting stuff and making personal artwork again. I’ve been so busy with other projects throughout June that posting online was an after thought.

I think with this collage I’ve created you can tell I’ve been caught up in all the Death Stranding hype and analysis.
This piece is made up from a few different ephemera papers, the majority of the larger images are from The Graphics Fairy.

Motorway Sketch

motorway sketch

I actually sketched this at the end of January but hadn’t uploaded a scan of it. This is a quick sketch from a photo I took on the way back from Nottingham, Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station in the distance.

I used a couple of different fineliners, Windsor & Newton watercolour markers and a Kuretake waterbrush.

Blog Update 2017

Bham Buildings watermak

I’ve slowly fallen away from posting to this blog because of posting to other, more interactive social media. After this post I will aim to again post on here when I post other places on the internet, I do quite like that this is just a place based around my artwork.

If you’re interested you can see my just artwork posts from October 2016 to now on my Tumblr . My Tumblr in general is my artwork posts along with other posts of inspiration whether that’s other artists, exhibitions, animation, film or just other things I find generally interesting- rachelmasseyart.tumblr.com

My Instagram is also posts of my artwork but also includes more personal posts in relation to my life as an artist- exhibitions, travelling, studio, works in progress etc.

Please take a look around my posts and links I’ve posted here.
Also I’m still, as usual, open for commissions, collabs and exhibitions. You can get in touch with me via email info@rachelmassey.co.uk
