International Postcard Show 2016

Two postcards I sent off to Nottingham for Surface Gallery’s International Postcard Show. Both postcards have a base of paper ephemera- a mixture of train tickets and car park ticket stubs with acrylic ink, watercolour and ink pens. Together has found vintage anatomy images- the heart in the middle has also been cut apart and hand stitched together with black thread.

Will be nice to start off this year with an exhibition with artists from around the world.

A Distinctive Sound

 

A Distinctive Sound, mixed media collage on postcard, 15x10cm

The next piece in my Gotye Project.

The song A Distinctive Sound is on the Australian release of the album Like Drawing Blood. On the International release (the copy I have, being in the UK and all) this is replaced by a new version of the song The Only Thing I Know, originally on the Boardface album. I will be making pieces for both songs in this project.

This track is very much an audial collage of sounds, music and vocals. I wanted to reflect the layers and texture with this piece. The cut text emphasises various ‘lyrics’ throughout the song.

Inktober #6

This is a postcard created specifically for a postcard swap I am participating in with Mayparis of Youtube. She sent me a lovely postcard of Lamp-posts in Love – a sculpture in Kiev, Ukraine.

The postcard has the base ink directly on it, whereas the butterflies were drawn and inked onto acrylic paper, cut out and attached onto the postcard.

Three completed art postcards.

All are mixed media and are standard 4×6 postcards with space for writing, address and stamp on the reverse.

The actual postcards obviously don’t have a watermark on them but will be signed by me.
