Building Sketch

Unusual building sketch in sketchbook while out in Stratford.

Created with Uni Pin fineliners, Winsor and Newton watercolour marker in Payne’s Grey and Pentel water brush.

New Artwork: Decay

Decay, acrylic ink and fineliner on paper, 44 x 34cm. For this piece I used a photo of an abandoned building in Bayern/Bavaria taken by https://www.instagram.com/artsbyxd/

Recently I’m loving experimenting with the contrast of an inky background overlaid with more structured forms. I do want to add a little more of an abstract feel to upcoming artworks.

New Artwork and Exhibition

 

Have a couple of pieces in this months open exhibition at the Art Yard gallery.

Cradley Train Station and George’s Dock Ventilation are both ink and mixed media on paper.

The first piece is also entered into the Cradley Heath Challenge where visitors to the gallery can vote for their favourite pieces reflecting the Cradley area.

New Artwork- revisiting linework

 

Finally added colour and finished this lineart I did for Inktober last year.

Watercolour, acrylic ink and gold acrylic paint on paper.

International Postcard Show 2018

 

My postcards created for the International Postcard Show at the Surface Gallery in Nottingham. I used blue, white and gold ink and various paper ephemera on the postcard base, the building drawings are acrylic ink on kraft brown paper.

I’ve tried to show how the gold ink catches the light in the last two images.

The opening night for the show is 12th January and is on until 10th February.

New Artworks- Mixed media on paper

 

Couple of artworks for the Open All Media exhibition at the Art Yard in Cradley Heath.

Artworks are: The Beacon Hotel, Glasshouse Locks and George’s Dock Ventilation.

Each artwork is layers of paper, ink and image transfer along with the ink drawing of each location on 300gsm paper.

Opening night for the show is Monday 8th and it’s on until the 3rd February.

Sketchbook Buildings

Drawing from photos I took while in Stratford. So many interesting buildings.

These drawings are made with a Pilot V5 ink pen and a water brush.

New Artworks

 

1: Royal Hospital, acrylic ink, ink pen, image transfer on paper, 40 x 30 cm

2: Grainger’s Lane, acrylic ink, ink pen, image transfer on paper, 40 x 30 cm

Each artwork has layers of image transferred vintage diagrams, maps and text relating to each building/area.

Both buildings have been empty for quite a few years. The Royal Hospital is currently being taken down, there are plans to use the land for new housing. The building on Grainger’s Lane was once a pub but now sits condemned on the street corner.

These pieces are in The Art Yard’s current exhibition, mentioned in my previous post.

Exhibition- The Art Yard

A few photos from Monday night’s private view of the Open Media Exhibition at the Art Yard, Cradley Heath. Two of my artworks are in this show, it’s on until the end of September. It’s great seeing how the gallery had been done up, now theres more space for artwork and art activities.

I have two pieces in this show that’s on until the end of September. The gallery is on Reddal Hill Road in Cradley, pop in and take a look around the exhibition.
